Pre-School Trips and Events
Trips out and nature walks
As part of our early years foundation stage curriculum we find that the children enjoy exploring and visiting places that they have never been to before. They enjoy visiting local community sites, the playarea and in the summer months we have nature walks, investigating all the plants and animal life in and around the village. It is very good for the children to be given the chance to explore their surroundings like this and they learn a lot about their community and the environment.
Visits to Dr Radcliffe's CofE Primary School
We are sometimes invited by Dr Radcliffe's CofE Primary School to visit their school events, such as sports day, plays and concerts. The children really enjoy these experiences and get to see their older siblings and friends at the school performing in their arts.
Library Van
The library van visits us once a month, and the pre-school children take it in turns to visit the van and choose books for all the Pre-School children to read.
Computer Suite
All our Rising R children are given the opportunity to attend the computer suite at Dr Radcliffe's CE Primary School. They learn how to use a simple computer program, mouse control and keyboard skills.
Music and movement sessions
We encourage the children to listen to music and to play musical instruments that are available to them. We dance to the music, sing nursery rhymes and add movement and actions to our songs.
Singing (accompanied by piano playing parents)
The children enjoy the piano music and recognise familiar tunes that are played. We sing nursery rhymes, and add movement and actions to our songs.
Sponsored walk for "Children in Need"
All Pre-School children have taken part in a sponsored walk for Children in Need. We collect money from people around our walk and the children sing songs as they walk around the village. It is a very worthwhile cause and it is important for our Pre-School children to have an understanding of what is happening in the world around them and to learn that they can help.
Sports Day
The children take part in several events during sports day, all parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters and friends are invited along to support the children in this event. We have running, egg and spoon, sack race, obstacle course and not to forget the parents race event.
Christmas Concerts
Every year Father Christmas comes to visit the Pre-School children at their Christmas Concert, and brings with him gifts for each and every Pre-School child. The children thoroughly enjoy dressing up, singing and acting for their parents.
Church services and visits from the Rector
We are very fortunate in having the church of St Peters & St Pauls within walking distance of our Pre-School, so we are able to attend some of the church services. The Rector from the church also visits us in Pre-School to tell the children biblical stories and to learn about the bible.
